About

For eleven years I worked as a night conductor on the long lines that cross Siberia, and I learned that a train compartment after midnight is the most honest room in the world. Strangers who will never meet again say things to each other they have never told their families. The rhythm of the rails loosens something. My stories grew out of those overheard confessions, carried for thousands of kilometres through the dark.
