Journalism taught me to find the extraordinary hiding inside ordinary lives. Sharp, concise prose became my trademark after years of deadline pressure. Decades spent interviewing people from every demographic imaginable, learning to recognize when someone's carefully constructed public persona was hiding something more interesting underneath, training myself to ask follow-up questions that revealed unexpected layers—all of this shaped my fiction into something direct and economical. I don't waste readers' time with unnecessary descriptions or plot meandering because journalism beat that habit out of me years ago. Every sentence earns its place or gets cut.
